OUr team is experienced to deliver results.

We feel The LinkLab can be the best partner with companies on the program management, design, and execution of the DSCSA pilots. We offer capabilities, seniority, and industry breadth, along with flexibility and agility that are ideal for this program. What sets us apart:

- Four years of success implementing California / DSCSA serialization requirements at manufacturers (includes accomplishment of aggregation and inference of finished goods between sites/locations)
- Understanding of global requirements and first-hand experience of how this might support and/or interfere with US implementation; and how global activities taking place now may hold interesting learnings in how to improve public safety further than our own current legislation requires
- An extensive performance track record of complex systems program and project management
- Senior experienced principals with strong track records of collaboration and bringing differing views together to common solutions
- A track record of deliverable innovation and a mindset that knows creative solutions will be found for improving pharmaceutical supply chain security – we just have to put the pieces together

Susanne Somerville

Founder, Principal

Susanne was most recently the Vice President of Supply Chain, North America, for Genentech/Roche. She brings over 25 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, and supply chain experience to The LinkLab. Her expertise includes:

  • Supply Chain Strategic Planning

  • Biotech and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

  • Warehousing and Distribution

  • ERP and Systems Management

  • Project Management and Leadership

  • Logistics and Trade

  • S&OP and Planning

Susanne was the program sponsor for implementation of Serialization for the US market for Genentech, which spanned manufacturing implementation of unit level bar coding, case and pallet level aggregation, system management of product movement, warehousing and distribution processes to ship product. They succeeded in delivering serialized product to market 3 years before the DSCSA deadlines.

Her team also played a strong role in providing strategic guidance for Roche’s delivery of serialization in Brazil, finished in 12 months from project initiation.

She has a reputation for strong collaboration while driving results, especially as the processes and systems had to align with global manufacturing and other global serialization requirements.

Eric Garvin

Founder, Principal

Eric has more than twenty years of project management experiece in the Life Sciences industry. His expertise includes:

  • Enterprise level IT programs

  • Merger and Acquisition Integration

  • Quality

  • Supply Chain and ERP Implementation

He began consulting in 1994 focused on the IT needs of the Life Science industry. He founded Global Technical Partners (GTP) in 1997 with a revised mission to provide industry-best project management services to Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and Medical Device companies. And although GTP was not formed to be solely an IT services company, many of GTP’s biggest successes have had an IT component. Eric has managed project teams of more than 200 members with project budgets in excess of $100M USD.

He has spent the last 3 years leading serialization implementation programs, both for the US and globally. His management savvy and technical understanding has resulted in early deliver of serialized products to market.

Randy Schwemmin

Senior Consultant

Randy Schwemmin is an operations and product development professional with over 20 years’ experience in the aerospace, consumer electronics, medical device, and biopharmaceutical industries. His most recent role was head of product operations at D-Rev, a non-profit developing and delivering medical devices that fulfill unmet needs of people living on less than four dollars a day. The expertise he brings to The LinkLab includes:

  • Business process design
  • ERP implementations
  • Supply chain management
  • Sales and Operations Planning
  • Clinical trial execution
  • Large scale project management
  • Leading global teams
  • Product development

During his tenure leading the clinical supply chain organization at Genentech, Randy led the program to merge and upgrade the separate Roche and Genentech clinical trial supply chain systems and processes. The global, cross-functional project delivered common label design, kit serialization, demand forecasting, supply planning, manufacturing execution, and distribution processes in a custom SAP platform. It finished on-time, under budget, and caused zero interruptions to patient supply.

Randy earned an MBA and MS in Manufacturing Systems from Stanford University and a BSE in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan.
